Hi there! I’m Joe Payne and I’m the guy behind Lightroom Preset Lab. I’ve been a professional wedding photographer since 2009 and have 17 years of expertise working in the media and imaging software industries where I have done everything from designing and publishing magazines for the Daily Mail Group through to running marketing and building film-emulation presets for Alien Skin Software.
I am a huge fan of film photography and have been searching for ways to streamline my wedding workflow to get the look I want for my images without having to jump back and forth between Lightroom, Photoshop and other programs. Sure, other presets exist on the market, but, generally speaking, some really bear very little relation to the actual film they purport to emulate and often require endless “tweaks” to get them looking halfway decent. Others look good in certain environments, but fall apart under close scrutiny in anything other than optimal conditions. I wanted something authentic-looking that has been carefully designed to be flexible enough to work across a wide range of images in different environments and lighting scenarios. For this reason, Analogue Soul was born.
To achieve what I was looking for, I have spent countless hours over the last 12 months carefully shooting film under different conditions on a range of cameras including Contax 645, Pentax 67 and Pentax 645 medium format cameras and a Canon EOS 1V 35mm camera. Then, by employing the best possible labs to get the highest quality scans and working diligently to match those scans in Lightroom, consistently, no matter the setting or time of day, I’m confident nothing else on the market gets as close to the real thing.
Off the back of this work and feedback from other photographers, I have built an easy-to-use system that will help make your images stand out from the crowd. The first fruit of this labour was the Quicksilver B&W pack and the Quickgold Colour pack followed shortly after. There is also a lot more good stuff in the pipeline! Thanks for stopping by!
Cheers,
Joe
